How to Create a Flawless
Fake Tan - Back
Warm weather is a welcome mat for individuals
who are ready to hit the beach and enjoy
outdoor activities. Those who visit the
beach do so for one of two reasons. They
either want to enjoy a day in the water,
or they want a glowing tan. Sunbathing
is a perfect way to receive a nice, golden
skin tone. However, sunbathing also increases
the risk of developing skin cancer. This
reason alone is why many are substituting
real tans with fake tans.
Skin cancer can affect anyone regardless
of age or skin color. A common belief is
that skin cancer does not occur in African-Americans
and Hispanics. This is false; therefore
individuals of these nationalities should
also protect themselves. A fake
tan can be achieved by using a self-tanning
product. These products are lotions and
sprays that are applied to the body. Some
are hesitant to create a fake tan because
products may result in an unnatural appearance
and orange streaks.
Achieving a natural
looking fake tan is possible. The
key is properly applying the self-tanner.
Prior to applying the product, skin should
be exfoliated. Exfoliating helps the
self-tanner go on evenly. Removing dead
skin cells also softens the skin and
contributes to a long lasting fake tan.
It may be ideal to shave after exfoliating.
This provides smooth, silky skin.
After exfoliating, moisturizer should
be applied to knees, elbows, and ankles.
Do not apply moisturizer to body parts
that will have a fake tan. Next, pour a
small amount of self-tanner into hands.
Rub hands together, and begin applying
the product to the body. Apply using long
strokes, and then gently blend into skin.
Fake tanning products should not be applied
to areas that are moisturized (ankle, heels,
elbows, etc). Once the self-tanning product
has been applied to the entire body, allow
the color to develop. Individuals who want
a darker appearance may apply an additional
layer. Sunscreen must be used along with
fake tan products. Some self-tanners do
contain sunscreen, however they only protect
for a short time.
